Appeals - the right to be heard
The recently released KPMG Value for Money Audit of the Board's appeal system recommends that Appeal System Practices & Procedures should further restrict access to oral hearings. This would lead to less access to justice for injured workers.
The oral hearing is an important opportunity for the injured worker to be heard, have a face to face meeting with a senior Board decisionmaker , and have his/her case properly considered and appreciated. It also affects the actual quality of decisionmaking.
