Up a Level POLITICS / Bill 187 (2007)

On March 22nd the McGuinty government announced several measures in its 2007 "anti-poverty" budget that make changes to the Workers' Compensation Act (Workplace Safety & Insurance Act) that will directly and indirectly affect injured workers.

Bill 187 draft Board policies:

The Board has released a set of " key interim policies" and calls for stakeholder feedback by November 1, 2007.

  • "IWC submission regarding Bill 187 July 2007 interim policies - Deeming adds insult to injury" (Nov. 2007)
Rather than, as promised, address the injustice of deeming brought in with the wage loss system, the interim policies threaten to make the consequences of deeming more negative and widespread. The submission addresses the history of the problem, with real-life examples of how it has affected injured workers, and suggests how it can be resolved.

Let the Board know how their policies will help or not help you - here is a sample letter to get you started, but do put it into your own words and tell your own story - about deeming or other policy issues that affect you and your family's lives.
